New Creation Clothing LLC – Founding Story
INTRODUCTION
When I first became a believer in Jesus, the words in the Bible became a constant source of joy, strength, love and hope. I would spend countless hours just reading the Word, oftentime being so overwhelmed, I was to the point of tears.
Having a very tight schedule as a college athlete, I would wake up early to read the Bible, before going to morning practice. I would carry a pocket Bible wherever I go, to read whenever I had the chance–and I still carry a pocket Bible to this day.
Now, several years after graduating, getting married and having my first kid, the importance of the Bible and God’s word in my life has increased–despite feeling like I don’t have as much time to read as I used to
NCC STORY
In January of 2023, a few of my friends and I were in a room talking about the Scriptures, and the idea of creating a business around them. In a jovial way, I shared how I would like to do something with clothing, African artistry, and the Scriptures. One of my closest friends suggested, “creating new clothes!” as a name for that business. What my friend said made me think of 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (NKJV). Inspired by this passage, along with what my friend said, New Creation Clothing LLC was birthed. Only six days later, my daughter was born.
GOALS
My desire in creating New Creation Clothing is to empower believers to artistically wear the Scriptures. That’s the reason why I place Bible passages in easily visible places for the wearer, in order to help him or her meditate on, and memorize the Scriptures. I want to see a generation live by, breathe, wear and meditate on the word of God.
Also on our website you’ll see African-designed clothing with unique patterns. These clothing pieces are named after Biblical figures. The unique patterns remind me of people in the Bible, and their unique stories. You can view some of the names and descriptions of these items on our website here.
With New Creation Clothing, one of my highest priority goals is to support nonprofits, like the City Rescue Mission, who are engaging with those experiencing homelessness. The Bible acknowledges the fact of homelessness and instructs us to help those who are in such situations (see Isaiah 58:6-7).
